Morning thoughts from Pastor Tim
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
The Lord put Adam to sleep and from his side created woman.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Gen 2:25
It must have been quite a spiritual experience to fellowship with God and not be ashamed.
But Adam and Eve listened to the lies of Satan.
What he had to say made sense and they gave in to his suggestions and the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. Gen 3:7
Again, it must have been quite a spiritual experience listening to Satan and discovering one’s own self.
The day came when God’s people were delivered from Egypt. They came to the mountain of God and all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off.
Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.” Ex 20:18-19
It must have been quite a spiritual experience to witness God’s presence on Mt. Sinai.
Later on a man named Korah made sense when he convinced many of the same people to rebel against Moses’ authority.
It must have been quite a spiritual experience when the ground split apart under them, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. Num 16:31-32
God and Satan can give spiritual experiences but only one leads to life!
Lies, deceit, and half-truths can only lead to death and Satan is the father of them.
He does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. John 8:44
Yet, listening to Satan’s lies must be quite a spiritual experience.
