The recent emotional graduation in Broaddus was proof of that.
The young men and women that graduated were Linda’s first Pre-K class.
I pastored, counseled, and befriended many of them.
Each graduates life has just changed very drastically.
For over 12 years going to school and seeing the same faces is all each of them has known.
No more getting up and catching the bus.
No more going to class except on their terms!
Another change is heading their way.
Eventually each will choose work, marriage, or both.
What they face in the future is nothing new.
It’s all been faced by many others before them.
Eccl 1:3-11 NLT
What do people get for all their hard work?
Generations come and go, but nothing really changes .
The sun rises and sets and hurries around to rise again.
The wind blows south and north, here and there, twisting back and forth, getting nowhere.
The rivers run into the sea, but the sea is never full. Then the water returns again to the rivers and flows again to the sea.
Everything is so weary and tiresome! No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content.
History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new.
What can you point to that is new? How do you know it didn’t already exist long ago? We don’t remember what happened in those former times. And in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now.
Here is my counsel to graduates.
Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I do not change;
He doesn’t change.
He’s not going anywhere.
He will answer your prayers…sometime the answer is no.
He will guide you and He will supply you!
REMEMBER YOUR PASTOR, TEACHERS, AND COUNSELORS
Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.
REMEMBER YOUR FAITH
1 Cor 2:1-5
And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.
For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.
And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
