Memorable Scripture: Expecting the unexpected

Matthew 28:5-6
But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

No one expected the unexpected.
The chief priests and Pharisee’s remembered Jesus saying He’d rise the third day and they sought permission to secure the tomb from potentially grave robbing disciples.
The women showed up at the tomb on the third day to embalm the body of Jesus.
The women weren’t really expecting a resurrection.
No disciples were around waiting for the resurrection.
Even today, so many do not believe in the resurrection of Jesus.
Many doubted it a few decades after it happened. Paul ran across the issue and asked, “How do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?” 1 Cor 15:12
He ran into a couple of men who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past. 2 Tim 2:18
That leads us to today where many do not expect the resurrection of the dead and the catching up of the living.
But as true as the resurrection of Jesus is so is the resurrection of the saints still in the future.
And though no one expected it back at the tomb, I’m expecting the unexpected very soon.
