Memorable Scripture: Law & Grace

Acts 15:28-29
For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.

Some Jews began to teach that Gentile salvation was incomplete without adherence to the Torah, the Law of Moses.
A great council convened in Jerusalem to discuss the matter.
It was discovered the Gentiles accepted Yeshua as Savior and received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, just as it happened to the Messianic Jews.
The logic of the council came down to the question of why make the Gentiles keep a Law that the Jews could not keep.
The council found it sufficient to restrain the Gentile believers on four key points.
Foods offered to idols.
The eating of any blood.
Eating animals strangled and, therefore, the blood not drained from their bodies.
Any sexual immorality.
This means you do not need to observe the Law. There is no harm if you do but why would you live under the Law and not under grace?
It is God’s grace allowing you not to live under the Law.
Certainly, that does not mean you should live lawless but God has written His law on your heart!
