Memorable Scripture: The Appointment

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

Everyone makes appointments.
An appointment with the doctor for Thursday morning, an appointment with the teacher at school, or an appointment to pick up groceries.
Something can happen and you have to cancel or perhaps you forget to keep an appointment.
Hebrews 9:27 says death is an appointment and it’s one you cannot cancel and one you will not miss.
With the exception of a few in the Bible, everyone dies.
I have witnessed it many times though my life – great grandparents, grandparents, my dad, friends, family, church members, and complete strangers that I held the service for – all had one thing in common, they died.
That brings the second thing they have in common, the judgment.
Everyone is judged sometime after death.
It is written in 2 Cor 5:10-For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
And Revelation 20 speaks of the final Great White Throne Judgment.
If you were to have an appointment with the doctor, teacher, or grocery store, you would prepare for it.
You would not show up at the doctor or the school dressed in your nightgown.
You wouldn’t have the back hatch loaded down with stuff to pick up the groceries.
Likewise, you need to prepare for the appointment with death by accepting Jesus as Savior.

  1. Romans 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
