Morning thoughts from Pastor Tim |
|---|
| Good Morning! This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. |
|---|
…for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. Gen 2:17
I didn’t literally get away with murder.
The fear of God had to flow through the veins of Adam and Eve when it came to the only commandment, only law that existed; don’t eat the fruit from that certain tree.
The temptation to sin and be wise, happy, and free over ruled the fear of God.
Eve ate, Adam ate and… nothing happened!
Well on the outside it seemed like nothing happened.
They didn’t fall down dead.
They didn’t get sick.
They didn’t start loosing body parts.
In fact, Adam lived to be 930 years old before he died.
However they did experience death on the day they each took a bite.
It is written the body is dead because of sin (Rom 8:10) and we are dead in trespasses and sins. Eph 2:1
Though Adam kept breathing, his spirit was dead.
It still happens today.
It is well known that the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23) but it seems everyone gets away with sinning without any repercussions.
A man kills another man and gets away with murder.
I am angry in my heart at my brother without cause and also get away with murder.
Stealing, lying, cheating, adultery all seem to have little consequence.
But would these things stop if God struck every person dead that committed them?
In the Old Testament, Israel was constantly going against what God said with the penalty of death hanging over their heads.
Some did die under the penalty of the law but it did not stop the rest from also sinning.
When you and I sin, we kill a bit of ourselves against God.
We may seem to get away with things in this life but it is also written that the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. Rev 21:8
No one can really get away with murder… or any other sin.
The wages of sin is [the second] death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Just a thought before my comment~actually a question before my comment~are you going all blog soon and not sending out the morning thoughts via email?
Comment: Thanking God for his mercy cause if not for that, I would be counted among those who he zapped if he chose to zap us if we commited one of these offensives.
