I remember, some while ago, hearing the news about a “Christian” business owner that made a decision to sell beer, wine, and other spirits in the establishment.
I was shocked by this and wondered how and why a Christian would do such a thing.
It was purely for economic reasons; money! Continue reading →
Someone once told me, “Change the way you think – change the way you feel!”
That phrase has a nice thought behind it but can be impractical for some things.
For instance, if you’re sick, running 103 fever, throwing up, and you think to yourself, “I feel miserable”, Continue reading →
HDTV isn’t all that it hyped up to be, at least for terrestrial TV stations.
Sure, it has a great picture, when you have a picture.
I remember the days of a tall antenna pole where you turned it, pointing it here and there with a wrench.
Someone inside the house would shout, “A little more! Stop! Go back…just a bit…WHOA! That’s it.” Continue reading →
But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 1 Thess 4:13
That scripture begins one of the most memorable parts of the Bible, about meeting the Lord in the air.
But what about those that have no hope? Continue reading →
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Eph 4:29
At first sight I want to believe this is more inclined to filthy language but the real meaning of corrupt is rotten, putrid, and not fit for use.
That’s going to include more than just a dirty joke or a cuss word or two. Continue reading →
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. Eph 4:31
We had kind of a different reading on that verse last night.
Whereas I have always said to put the bitterness, wrath, etc away, and with it all malice; Don last night said we should put these things away with malice, with the intent to harm them.
Think about that!
What if, instead of getting mad at others because of sin, you became mad at yourself because of your sin, and you maliciously got rid of it!
I thought it a really deep concept.
Oh, that we would love Jesus more than we love sin!
Just some food for thought this morning!
“How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws?” Ex 16:28
Yesterday I kept posting the same status on Facebook; Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. ~First Amendment to the US Constitution. I met a man last Saturday that’s a real American hero.
He served in our Armed Forces in WW2 and received 2 bronze stars.
It was an honor and a thrill to speak with him for a few minutes. Continue reading →
There has been a lot of chatter about President Obama stopping the National Day of Prayer.
Let me assure you that hasn’t happened…yet! Continue reading →
