Thinking And Meditating On Things!
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things. Phil 4:8
What do you think about?
Is it about your job?
Perhaps it’s about family or a ball game.
Hunting season is coming up and there are lots of people thinking about it.
Most think about some event that is nearing like hunting season, ball games, an exam, a visit to the doctor, or whatever.
As soon as one event is over there will be another to think of.
There is one thing that doesn’t come and go or change daily, and that’s God!
Despite the rigors of work, travel, church, and constantly keeping up the house, I find myself thinking more about my relationship with God.
I desire to read and learn more about what He wants us to do.
I end up meditating on those things that Paul spoke about; truth, nobility, justice, purity, loveliness, goodness, virtue, and praise.
These are the things that change a person eternally!
Ball games, hunting seasons, schooling, will all come and go.
Salvation is eternal.
What Are You Talking About Today?
Therefore be very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, lest you turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left, and lest you go among these nations, these who remain among you. You shall not make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause anyone to swear by them; you shall not serve them nor bow down to them, Josh 23:6-7
Are we talking more about “anything else” but God?
Today there will be an Islamic prayer rally on the steps of the Capitol.
Our…OUR…basic rights of Freedom of Religion has granted protection under the Constitution for this group to peacefully assemble and pray.
The same rights under the law have allowed us to start a church and me to pastor it for almost 10 years, and the same may be true about your church also.
And hopefully the message inside our churches is one of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, are we talking about other things that do not edify His name?
What is our subject of conversation outside the church?
Are we making mention of the name of their gods?
Will anyone receive The Salvation by the mentioning of those gods?
Perhaps this is why Paul said, “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” 1 Cor 2:1-2
Keep Your Mind On The Business At Hand
Wow! There is so much news going on these days.
News about what the Administration is doing, the U. N., Israel; it’s difficult to see it all.
Just a few minutes ago I read several different stories on the internet. Continue reading
Knowledge Increases Sorrow
Am I disappointed that The Event did not happen over the past few days?
Yes, to some degree but there is always next year or the next; it will happen! Continue reading
