The Cure for Sin

Friday evening, Linda and I participated in the Relay for Life. This is an all night event for cancer survivors and those currently fighting the disease.
Linda and I haven’t done an all-nighter and I doubted this would be the evening to break that trend. Continue reading

Put Away Childish Things

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 1 Cor 13:11
I remember when I turned 12 years old, it was the day I was no longer a child.
I had a great collection of Hot Wheels cars, the track, super-boosters; the whole works. Continue reading

The Big One Got Away!

Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matt 4:19
One more thought on fishermen; did you know they have a tendency to exaggerate?
I know that guessing the size of the fish by how much it puts up a fight can be deceiving. I have thought I was pulling in whales when I pulled in a minnow. Continue reading

Use the Right Lure!

Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matt 4:19
There is some skill involved with fishing. Knowing how to cast, how to remove a hook, how to untangle a line, or just getting the fish in the boat.
Around where I live the most popular fishing is bass, crappie, and catfish. Continue reading

A Great Day for Fishing!

Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matt 4:19
Fishing is a sport of patience and determination.
It is a skill to know when the fish may be biting and what type bait or lure to use.
Just because something isn’t caught today doesn’t mean you quit fishing all together. Continue reading

Sooner or later

It is a legitimate question that you should answer truthfully and honestly – how important is God to you?
Many wait until some last minute ditch effort in their life to suddenly make God a number one priority Continue reading

Washed!

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes.” Ex 19:10
Think of how difficult it was to wash clothes back then. You can moan, groan, and complain but you have it made today compared to the standards of 1000 years ago or even 100 years ago. Continue reading

Refreshing Rain!

Let my teaching drop as the rain Deut 32:2
Last year was the worst drought I have seen in all my life.
It was the driest and the hottest that I ever remember.
Wildfires broke out all over the state; and Lake Sam Rayburn dropped and dropped to 18 feet below normal. Continue reading

Get to know someone!

As Saul watched David go out to fight the Philistine, he asked Abner, the commander of his army, “Abner, whose son is this young man?”
“I really don’t know,” Abner declared. 1 Sam 17:55
David shows up in the Israeli camp and declares that he will go fight the Philistine champion, Goliath. Continue reading

So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt.

Then they plotted among themselves, “Let’s choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!” Num 14:4
I was reading in my Bible where the Israelites decided they could not take over the promise land.
After being delivered from bondage in Egypt, they decided they wanted to go back into that bondage. Continue reading
