What's In It For Me? (Revisited)

morning thoughts

Morning thoughts from Pastor Tim

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

jesusoncrossSo did I finish with “What’s in it for me?”
Hardly!
There are very few creatures that are not self-serving.
There are some insects and ocean creatures that will sacrifice themselves for their offspring.
Many moms would do the same.
There are certain female spiders that allowed themselves to become the first meal for their young.
Some female octopus will starve themselves to protect the nest until the last hatchling and with their dying “breath” expel the younglings into their new world.
Paul said, “For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.” Rom 5:7
In a world of take, take, take we find that God gives, gives, gives.
His giving nature should be imputed into us as we grow in His Spirit.
Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil 2:1-4
What’s in it for me?
To be a better person in Him.

  1. If people knew the truth about death maybe we’d all be more concerned about the other person. On what could have been, my brothers death bed I lead him to Christ. His wife warned me to never speek to him again about death. Her eternity scares me.Their youngesr (20+) flat lined in the hosspital. She was brought back. She also is without eternal knoweldge. My thought is, if I don’t tell her will her blood be on my hands? We do have an awesome responcability with the Truth that has been intrusted to us. If relationships are lost, if things are denied us because of Christ, this life is short. Eternity is forever. It’s our choise. Personaly I choose those things that will enter Eternity, Truth,Love, His pleasure not mine.
