A Gift Of God – 3

morning thoughts

Morning thoughts from Pastor Tim

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

holding-handsLinda thought last Friday would be a great time for us to get away for Valentine’s since we won’t be able this coming weekend.
She suggested I find a geocache-rich environment and we go.
She didn’t have to ask me twice.
Through out the week I had worked on the wood heater and strained my back a bit digging up the sewer so I wasn’t feeling 100% but I wanted the time away as much as she did.
By the time we left on Friday I was felt good enough to find a cache or two on the way to Leesville, La.
Now we enjoy the sport so much together that it doesn’t make any difference to us where we go; Leesville or Longview, Shreveport or Waco, or any place in between.
It’s the fact that we are together doing something we like – together!
That is what makes a great portion of our marriage work.
We also enjoy worshipping God together; singing, praying, reading and learning.
When you enjoy the company of the one your with then it doesn’t matter what you do as long as you’re doing it together.
And yet for us it would seem to be meaningless if it wasn’t for Christ in our marriage.
I could lavish on her diamonds, pearls, new cars, remodeled kitchen, or a 2-week caching trip but if she doesn’t feel my love for her then it would mean nothing.
Paul said this concerning our relationship with God; But earnestly desire the best gifts . And yet I show you a more excellent way. 1 Cor 12:31
That more excellent way is resounded in chapter 13 as love.
It is the greatest gift you will ever receive or give. It is more valuable than gold or precious jewels.
It is the gift that God has given to us.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
