Just One

A couple of Saturdays ago we were in Shreveport, La doing some shopping. (There’s a Bass Pro Shop there!)

As we’re driving down East Texas St. we started to hear very loud music.

My first thought was someone with those huge speakers in the back seat of their car booming rap music and rattling windows.

That was not the case.

It was a group of Christians on a parking lot singing and presenting the Gospel.

One man had a bullhorn and was talking to the commuters as we were stopped at the traffic signal.

I rolled down the window to hear better only to catch a word or two here or there.

It seems every time he turned the other way he could no longer be heard.

I know what they were trying to do and their efforts are worth noting but I wonder what they accomplished.

Did any one actually hear the message?

I couldn’t understand what was being said!

Did any one repent and seek salvation in Jesus?

Or were the vast majority of those that saw and heard them like us, traveling by and wondering what is going on?

Though I will admit that if just one person asked Jesus into their life then it was all worth it.

There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10

  1. Very good thought, I guess the hard part is always doing what God calls us to do. If God calls us to stand on the street corners and preach in a bullhorn then we better get busy. But, if we are just doing it to get attention or praise from men for being a “bold witness” then you’ve missed the point.
