The telephone rang and the Caller ID told us it was one of our church members.

Linda answered the phone with a hearty, “Hello!”

The voice on the other end paused for a moment and then said, “I must have the wrong number.”

Thinking it was a joke, Linda replied, “You think you have the wrong number. Are you sure?”

“Yes, I must have the wrong number.”

Linda laughed and, much to the other party’s surprise, called her name.

“Who is this?”

“This is Linda,” she finally admitted.

Linda always says when you call someone and get someone else you know, it was meant to be.

Unless it’s being blocked, with Caller ID you will always know who is on the other end.

There is the story of the young Samuel who didn’t know what God sounded like and didn’t have a “spiritual caller id.”

The LORD called out, “Samuel! Samuel!”

“Yes?” Samuel replied. “What is it?” He jumped up and ran to Eli. “Here I am. What do you need?”

“I didn’t call you,” Eli replied. “Go on back to bed.” So he did. 1 Sam 3:4-5 NLT

This happened several times until Eli said, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Yes, LORD, your servant is listening.’ “ So Samuel went back to bed. 1 Sam 3:9 NLT

Indeed, it was the Lord and from that time forward Samuel had no problem identifying when God was speaking.
