Atheists are difficult to bring to the Lord.
They blatantly deny that the God exist and harden their hearts toward any attempt to convince them otherwise.
I can certainly understand the mind of an atheist since I am a natural skeptic myself.
It’s easy to rationalize against a god by watching the followers of that god and Christians are no exception.
We’ve done many things “in the Name of God” that gave Him no glory but only drug His name through the mud.
Then there are the writings and beliefs of any group of believers.
For instance many say that if you read the Bible you will find “contradictions”.
These contradictions exist to someone looking for fault but when someone has received the Holy Spirit these contradictions don’t exist and can easily be explained.
This is why it is written but we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor 2:16
The mind of Christ puts the Christian into a place of spiritual thinking on the level of God; not that you will know all things and it’s not a rationalization of thought.
As Jesus said to Nicodemus, “We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” John 3:11-12
Nicodemus could not wrap His mind around what Jesus was saying because He did not have the mind of Christ.
It’s not just a simple answer to an equation like 2+2=4, but is spiritually discerned in the spirit by The Spirit.
This leaves a whole lot of room for interpretation except when you are truly led by The Spirit.
I’ve had many tell me they were “led by the Spirit” and they went on to do some pretty unspiritual things.
The Holy Spirit is not pretentious and arrogant but is humble and lowly.
The Holy Spirit does not brag and throw around His weight but is gentle.
The Holy Spirit does not run others down and trample them underfoot but seeks to bring all men to Christ.
The Holy Spirit is not loud and boisterous but still speaks in that still small voice.
I can see why someone would not believe in God when I look at His people, all saying, “We’re led by the Spirit!”
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2:5-11
