The atheist friend I previously referred to admits that he is an atheist but declared he believed in Judeo-Christian morals.
Of course what does his morality encompass?
Would he lie or steal?
Would he consider committing adultery or fornication?
Does he honor his father and mother?
Morality without conviction is vague; it’s rules meant to be bent.
It is not natural for someone to try and be sinless since there exist a sin nature in all; There is none righteous, no, not one. Rom 3:10
That is not to say there aren’t some morally good people and you may be one.
I don’t do drugs, drink, I haven’t murdered anyone, have never committed adultery, I don’t cuss, shoot the finger at folks, and I try not to run down God’s anointed.
I am honest and don’t keep what doesn’t belong to me.
Now that you know what I don’t do, what is it I have done?
You see that’s the key.
God is not interested in what you haven’t done but in what you have.
Now here comes the contradiction; for an atheist it’s a two-edged sword.
Not only is it what they are doing but what they haven’t done.
That sounds like a contradiction on my part but stay with me on this.
It is written “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” Rom 3:10-12
