I Can’t Believe She Ate The Whole Thing!

Linda and I went to the annual Pastor’s Appreciation Gideon Banquet on Saturday evening.
We had Haylee with us all day so she went along.
The banquet always features an excellent meal provided by, cooked by, and served by the Gideons.
On the menu was steak and baked potato.
They brought Haylee a huge steak and I told her that it was so big that when I finished mine I could eat what she had left.
She informed me that nothing would be left.
I was totally surprised and can’t believe she ate the whole thing!
Plus she ate most of her potato and a little dessert.
That’s okay though, I didn’t need any extra.
It was all I could do to eat what was served to me.
But it reminds me of what Jesus served to His disciples.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”
Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Matt 26:26-28
What He served was Himself and it was enough for anyone and everyone.
It makes me wonder about something Paul said; For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 1 Cor 11:29
It may be that we do this unworthily when we want what someone else has not being satisfied with what the Lord has given to us.
Or maybe we don’t believe He will fill us up and satisfy us so we go looking for something else to snack on, that is, we wander after false doctrines and teachings.
This is why it is written Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Ps 34:8
