Friday evening found us at the Broaddus High School gym for senior graduation.
I don’t believe I have seen the place that full of people for a graduation.
I watched as tears streamed down the face of parents and a few of the seniors.
Linda and I were touched when Jeremy, one of the grads of our church, presented Linda with a rose.
Many of these young men and women, like Jeremy, will be leaving home and going to college, only to return on weekends, holidays, and when the laundry needs doing.
Many mom’s, like Ashley, will be facing E. N. S. or E. M. S.
That’s Empty Nest Syndrome or Empty Mess Syndrome.
I like to watch these young people head out into the world to become doctors, lawyers, engineers, preachers, husbands, and wives.
Perhaps there’s a politician among them but I pray they’ll do better than that.
Hopefully each of them will carry our Lord where ever they go.
If they end up at UT-Austin, or Sam Houston State, TCU, or SFA, I hope they can find a church to call home and a family to call their own.
One thing they aren’t graduating from is their relationship with Jesus!
So to our grad, Jeremy, who will be going to UT-Tyler, congratulations.
Jeremy, I remind you of what our God said to Isaiah.
His words are just as good for you too!
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isa 41:10
Congratulations, Jeremy! We wish you the best!
