The Law And Animal Sacrifices

MosesWhat is the purpose of the Law of Moses?
Paul answered that question in Galatians.
What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. Gal 3:19
The purpose of the Law is to show sin.
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. Rom 7:7-8
The Law came so that we could recognize sin in our lives and thus experience forgiveness of sin.
You will not seek forgiveness until you realize you are a sinner and have failed God’s Law.
How does God forgive sin?
What is the saving factor?
And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. Heb 9:22
It was blood from the beginning with Adam and Eve and with Abel.
But was the blood of animals sufficient to take away sin?
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. Heb 10:1-4
That would seem to answer with a definitive, “NO!”
The blood of animals could not permanently remit sin.
Enter onto the scene Jesus.
He was perfect!
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Heb 4:15
Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb 10:8-10
The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
When Jesus was crucified it was for our sins!
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. 1 Cor 15:3
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins , might live for righteousness — by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24
When did this happen?
According to Dan 9:27, But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
When Jesus died for our sins did the daily offering stop?
No!
But was the daily offering needed?
No!
Therefore, He put an end to offering and sacrifice!
Will there ever be a need for animal sacrifice again?
How can we go back to a system that didn’t work?
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, Heb 10:26
