In case you missed this one, an Israeli woman bought her elderly mother a new mattress as a surprise and threw out the old one.
What a sweet gesture on her part, in taking care of her mom.
Little did she know that mommy had a bad experience with banks one time and had stuffed the old mattress with her life savings of $1 million.
When she went to look for the mattress it had already been taken by garbage men.
Subsequent searches at three different landfill sites turned up nothing.
The dump manager and staff are helping the woman but he said the mattress was hard to find among the 2,500 tons of garbage arriving at the site every day.
Increased security at the dump will help keep would-be treasure hunters away.
The daughter probably realizes why that old mattress was so lumpy to make her think it needed replacing.
Member FDIC for mom must stand for Feathers, Down, Innersprings, & Comforter.
It’s too bad that most Israeli’s are Jewish and therefore reject the New Testament.
They could have easily had the words of Jesus, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.” Matt 6:19
Perhaps we could also say “where daughters give it to the garbage men!”
The verse goes on to say lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt 6:20-21
BTW, don’t stuff your salvation experience under a mattress. Share it with someone today too!
