When could Jesus return?
Most answer with, “Anytime now!”
That is not exactly true.
I do believe He could come back this year or next or the next, but that His return is day-specific.
Let’ s digress to yesterdays thought and look at what the scripture says about His death. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, Isa 53:7 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. Ex 12:5 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29 You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha. Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover , and about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold your King!”
But they cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!”
Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?”
The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!”
Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. Then they took Jesus and led Him away. John 19:13-16 For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. 1 Cor 5:7
It is evident that He could only die at Passover, which He did, thus fulfilling the feast.
It is written For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Rom 5:6
The word “due time” is kairos, which means set or proper time.
That would be like an appointed time.
The word used for feasts also means an appointed time so the death of Jesus is not just a haphazard time determined by the high priest and Pilate; it was determined by God.
If His death is a determined and appointed time, then so would His resurrection.
We’ll see what the scripture says about that next time.
