Burn-Out (part 1)

burn the candleWhat causes burn-out?
I was lying in bed thinking about it early this morning.
When I examined myself, I could see an evolution of sorts that led to my demise.
When I first began to write Morning Thoughts, I wanted to show how scripture was useful in everyday life.
The model is the Bible, in which the authors of the New Testament would glean from the Old to prove a Godly point.
Let me give you an example; take Ps 118:22, The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.
Add to that Isa 28:16, Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily.”
Finally we need Isa 8:14, He will be as a sanctuary, But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, as a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Three different places in the Bible, though 2 are from the same book.
But the Holy Spirit directed Peter to bring all three together to give us; Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”
Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,” and “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.”
They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.
1 Peter 2:4-8
It took an intricate knowledge of scripture to bring the 3 into 1!
This is what I desire in my life and for you!
But I got away from that! …

  1. I must say I do love the gift you have in brining the word to apply to every day living. It’s the simple things that make people stop and say WOW! God is real. Praying for your light to be re-kindled and burn bright.

    Love & Prayers,
    Pat
