Narrow Reading

Since I have been getting up early, I have had a chance to listen to an AM talk show.
This particular program has all kinds of guests; those that believe in UFO’s, ghosts, extra-terrestrials, Lochness, reincarnation, a god, paranormal, previous life, and the list goes on.
No matter who the guest is there are plenty of callers that will agree with whatever is being talked about.
It reminds me of a verse that says, enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matt 7:13-14
The subjects on the radio are broad in nature, drawing all kinds of people into believing what ever.
But the faith you have in Jesus is very narrow.
There is no room to venture to the left or right.
Few people find this narrow way.
Even in today’s churches it seems the way is getting wider and wider as acceptance of immorality creeps in.
This is why I stick to reading the Bible.
If it is the only truth, why would you want to read something else.
The Bible, a narrow choice of reading material.

  1. There are those people we have to leave alone. They’ve made their choise. It hurts to watch them go the wrong way. We are powerless with them. The only thing we can do for them is pray and trust Jesus to work with them. I would like to do something to inlighten them. Jesus said to not cast my preals to swine. I take that to mean guard the Word.

  2. Excellent MT’s! Like I was telling you last night, for many years that verse didn’t make sense to me as I thought that everyone who heard the Word of God would want to accept His free gift of salvation. But, with the falling away from the true Word of God that we’ve seen over the past several years, I came to understanding of that portion of scripture. Breaks my heart that so many would hear the Gospel, and then be so easily turned away along the broad path. Like Arlene wrote, all we can do is pray for these lost people, and let God deal with them as i also don’t want to cast my pearls before swine, as there are those who I KNOW will not receive what I would have to say to them about Jesus.
Have a blessed day, and get a nap this afternoon!

  3. So true. We have a friend in Australia who is a psychiatrist. He was interviewed about criminals. Since he did not agree w/ the person interviewing him, he was dismissed. Then he reads in the newspaper an article written by the person who interviewed him. The person interviewed all these psychiatrists until he found one that agreed w/ his purpose and quoted that person.

So I guess sticking with the truth is the only way!
