The Hot And Spicy Word Of God

Behold, I will make My words in your mouth fire. Jer 5:14
Have you heard someone exclaim, “My mouth is on fire”?
It often happens after they eat a hot pepper but I never really saw any flames coming out of their mouth so it really wasn’t “on fire.”
Our staff often goes to a Mexican restaurant to celebrate birthdays.
Once there I begin to eat chip after chip of salsa.
On some days it is spicy and some days not; but I usually dig in without having my soft drink on the table.
Linda usually waits for her tea, which may give me a little more tolerance than her.
Many of the others will order jalapenos with their meal, a practice I never can get use myself.
It would take a while for my taste buds and pain receptors to become accustomed to the heat of the pepper and I’m not willing to do that.
I’m not particularly fond of foods that burn going in and out so I usually avoid the really hot peppers and the sauces made by them.
However, when it comes to the word of God I am a voracious eater that will consume whatever God sets before me.
And sometimes His word can be pretty spicy.
There are others that will avoid the word of God at any cost because it “burns” their conscience and it sears their spirit.
Even the mildest of messages will cause them to turn away and run.
It is better to be burned a little by hearing the word of God now than to burn in the life to come by our God, for our God is a consuming fire. Heb 12:29
So I’ll pass on the jalapenos but send the Bible my way.
