A Christmas Carol

One of my favorite movies was on last night, A Christmas Carol.
Originally a book by English author Charles Dickens.
Of course the story is about Ebenezer Scrooge a miserly, cold, unfeeling, old and curmudgeonly man and his Christmas conversion and redemption after being visited by four ghosts.
It was first published in December 1843 and quickly met with commercial success and critical acclaim.
But could Charles Dickens ever imagine the total success of his work?
The book has been done as movies, film, cartoons, and plays over and over.
Albert Finney, George C. Scott, Patrick Stewart, Alistair Sims, Bill Murray, Tori Spelling, Susan Lucci, and many more stars have been Scrooge.
Others stars played other parts including Gary Coleman and William Shatner.
Though the story is timeless and popular and does speak of redemption, though not necessarily through Jesus.
The real story of redemption is found in God’s word and is the true Christmas timeless Christmas story.
Part of it is 8 days after His birth; And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.” Luke 2:25-32

  1. I don;t have a favorit verse. I would say I have a favorit BOOK. It says that the Lord is the same yesterday today and forever. Here in Luke 2 God told Simeon he would not die before seeing the Christ. (With his eyes) Every person that has reached the age of accountability is presented with an oppertunity to know Christ. When the answer is yes then we reconize His presence everwhere. In afect we do see Him. Simeon only got to look at the Christ child. We get to know Him!
