Face The Lion

David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” 1 Sam 17:34-36
I read the news story of an 11-year old boy that was outside getting firewood when a cougar charged him.
The boy’s dog quickly ran between him and the cougar and took the brunt of the attack.
A nearby police officer was able to kill the cat and save the dog and boy.
Every year I hear about somebody being attacked and killed by a cougar.
Linda and I have thought about the danger we may be facing when we go caching in remote areas of forest or hill country.
Yet a young man like David told about killing both lion and bear, a feat I have never done or wish to do.
But as Christians we are called to be always ready, aware, and vigilant.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.  Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 1 Peter 5:8-9

  1. Yes, how true we as christians must be sober and vigilant for we all have roaring lions that threaten our physical, emotional and spiritual well being. Praise God that he has made a way of protection and paid the price, with his precious blood, for our victory to fight off these attacks.
