LOL

He will yet fill your mouth with laughing, and your lips with rejoicing. Job 8:21
Linda spent a week and a half in pain, in bed, and on meds.
Though for some a week in bed sounds heavenly, it is torturous when you don’t have the ability to get up and go somewhere else.
She has been blessed by a few visitors but none cheered her up as much as Darlene.
She was one of our dearest friends at a previous pastorate and we have stayed in touch from time to time.
Darlene appeared on the door step last week, bearing a lemon pound cake.
Though she couldn’t stay long, she was there for over 30 minutes.
She began to tell tales of her grandchildren; stories and anecdotes that would rival any stand up comedian.
Linda and I laughed so hard our sides hurt and tears flowed down our cheeks.
I can’t help but think that this visit did Linda more good than all of the medicine combined.
After all, a merry heart does good, like medicine. Prov 17:22
I have always loved to laugh and make others laugh, even at the expense of my own dignity.
How anyone can go through life with a sour expression on their face and no laughter from their mouth is beyond my understanding.
Yet I have met such people that never see anything humorous.
I can’t help but believe God Himself has a sense of humor.
Case in point is Sarah, Abraham’s wife.
Here is a hopeless old lady (90 years old) with no children and God shows up and says she’s going to get pregnant.
The Bible says that Sarah laughed. Gen 18:12
But that’s exactly what happened.
It was such a wonderful moment that they named the baby, Isaac.
Isaac means laughter!
So go ahead, lean back your head, open your mouth wide and let out a good laugh!

  1. That’s great! When I was a kid we would get in trouble for laughing, I think we got on my Mom’s nerves since there was six of us and we didn’t do it at the right time. (in the car , in bed etc). I love to laugh.

  2. My first experience with laughter during a funeral was with my mom. The Lord revealed I’d laugh. I argued. But mom’s pastor came to visit and begain to tell true pastoral stories that were so funny I laught. I could hear mom’s laughter. More resently, during our daughters funeral and weeks after, laughter flowed. We reconize it as a gift from Father God. It is an absoulte truth laughter is a medicine!!!
