I was over at the neighbors helping program their TV and remote control on Sunday afternoon.
I’ve known Bully and Sue since I was a child.
Sue is my 2nd cousin on my mother’s side; her dad and my grandpa were brothers.
I had to make a call to Dish Network to confirm their programming options and billing.
The Dish rep asked to speak to a Melva.
“Melva?” I asked, “Who is Melva?”
Bully said, “Sue is!”
You learn something new every day, if your eyes and ears are open.
Here I am almost 53 years old and I just learn that Sue’s first name is Melva.
The Bible tells us that there is another name you and I don’t know; He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. Rev 19:12
I don’t know if it really matters that we don’t know that name because it goes on to say, His name is called The Word of God (Rev 19:13) and He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Rev 19:16
Any time I called and asked for Sue, I would get her.
And any time I call on the name of Jesus, I get Him.
It doesn’t matter if you do or don’t know the whole name of everyone you associate with or that name that no one knew except Himself.
If you have called upon the name of Jesus, you will be saved; if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Rom 10:9
Isn’t it funny that a spoken sermen can be so ofencive? Yet a living one is acceptable. And that dreaded word “sin.” To many people are involved in the enjoyment of wrong doing to call it sin. There is to much pleasure there! If someone else does not do such, well it’s thought that’s just their choise. We need to say, it’s by the power of Jesus that I don’t do such any more. In Christ I’ve found a satisfying way. I’ve loved the Lord for so long that I’ve forgetten how hard the Word of God can sound to a lost person. When Father God has to correct me I count it LOVE.
