Don't Be Idle Today

Did you hear the news story about the man who streaked through a Tennessee supermarket?
It’s kind of reminiscent of the Ray Stevens song The Streak, in which a character in the song also ran through a supermarket.
The 22 year-old man has been charged with indecent exposure.
The reason he gave the police for his actions; he was “bored and didn’t have anything else to do.”
A police report says officers found the suspect in the bathroom of a nearby Hardee’s restaurant. Employees say he entered the fast food outlet wearing nothing but an orange hooded sweat shirt and asked if anyone could lend him clothes. An employee gave him a pair of athletic shorts.
Bored and nothing to do!
That sounds like a few of us Christians!
I think we’re often idle and bored.
Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, and said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went. Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?’ They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.’ Matt 20:1-7
You and I have been hired.
It’s time to get dressed and go to work.
