Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”
So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies.
Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the LORD heeded the voice of a man; for the LORD fought for Israel. Josh 10:12-14
Do you ever wish days away?
“I wish it was June 1st, so I could go on vacation!”
“I’ll be glad when Christmas gets here!”
“I wish the last day of school would hurry up!”
“Oh, my, it’s Monday again. I’ll be glad when Friday is here.”
I have never seen a week or month speed up and zip by just because you or I wanted it to.
Nevertheless, those days that we long for eventually get here.
What really amazes me is Joshua’s story of the day not flying by, but slowing down and stopping altogether.
I don’t know of any days that I have said, “I wish this day could last forever.”
For every day we would stop, would slow down the return of the Lord.
And for every week we wish to zip through, could be the week He returns and we would fly right by it.
Cherish each day and treat it the way the Lord meant for us to.
Today, for instance, is a special day. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Cor 6:2
Aren’t you glad you haven’t missed the day of salvation?
Isn’t it interesting that we are always wanting time to advance?
Lord haste the day. What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall msee!!
