Medals And Crowns

I met a man last Saturday that’s a real American hero.
He served in our Armed Forces in WW2 and received 2 bronze stars.
It was an honor and a thrill to speak with him for a few minutes.
And though he has these commendations, they are nowhere to be seen in his home.
He didn’t bring them out of a chest and show me; in fact, he told me that De Gaulle also awarded him the Fleur-de-lis.
He told me he found it years later and discovered that the center was gold. So he had it melted down and turned into a tie clasp.
Most valorous men I know care little for the awards presented them, especially in light of so many of their buddies engaging in the same acts of heroism but perhaps being killed.
I sure each man wonders why he should be rewarded when so many other didn’t make it.
Perhaps that same thought would explain a verse in Revelation; the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, Rev 4:10
Will we cast our crowns at His feet?
Think of all the ones that you have talked to about Jesus and they still continue to reject the Gospel.
It seems almost unfitting that we should be rewarded with a crown when so many died in their sin.
Surely we will give our honor back to Him!
