I believe in God’s miraculous healing but sometimes I wonder about it.
You see I also believe God can hold it back.
I have a young man in church that is really struggling.
He has undergone a substantial surgical procedure that isn’t healing very well.
The doctors tell him it will take time but it’s painful and annoying.
Why doesn’t God heal him?
Is the church the problem?
Me?
I know that God addresses my question with an answer; Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. James 5:14-15
It also says confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16
Are we not anointing in the name of the Lord?
Are we not praying fervently enough?
Is there unconfessed sin?
Even with all these questions another answer appears from someone who has been there.
Let’s look at what he has to say about it next time.
The 700 club introduced a woman with enough cancer to kill 15 people. For the last 9 years she’d roll on to the floor in so much pain she could not stand. She’d cry out to God for strength to just stand up then to be able to honor Him in her day. This brought to mind her friends, strugling, asking God for strength. This woman prayed & prayed. Upon reaching the end of her intercession the pain was gone. Someone asked the Lord why He didn’t take this loveing prayer warrior home and releave her pain. HE replied, why do you think she is such a warrior?

Psalm 27:14 is the scripture I sent him. If God has put a calling on him to be a youth leader, then it could be that he needs this time to spend in God’s word. Otherwise, he would be in college, probably working a part-time job, and not have as much time to spend in God’s word to prepare him for what God wants him to do. Besides, this can be a VERY difficult surgery to recover from, depending on how deep the surgeon had to go. We’ll just have to keep praying for him:) and encouraging him.
