I was on a quest at my 35th high school reunion and that was to find out who went through all 12 years with me; beginning with 1st grade at Highlands Elementary.
I could only think of a few and at least 2 would not be at the reunion.
I ran into Albert, a fellow Highlands resident, who did start with me in Mrs. Johnson’s class.
Albert told me that Dennis was there and he, too, had been in the same class.
A bit later I was sitting at the table with my wife when a man walked passed me.
I recognized him as Dennis. His face still holds the basic features that he had 35 years ago and beyond.
I made a bee-line to him and he recognized me.
As we talked about our lives, he asked me where I was living.
I like to use Broaddus as my home base so “Broaddus”, I said.
“No way” he replied, “I live close to Bronson!”
In fact, Dennis and I live about 15 miles from each other.
We exchanged information on where each of us live and perhaps we will get together for a better chat in the future.
One of the greatest reunions is told us from the pages of the Bible.
His brothers were jealous of him and devised a plan to rid themselves of him.
He was sold into slavery when he was 17 years old; his dad was told that he had been killed by a wild animal.
Years and decades went by and the brothers stood before the number 2 man of Egypt, who was their brother.
When Joseph revealed himself to his family he said, “I am Joseph, your brother whom you sold into Egypt. But don’t be angry with yourselves that you did this to me, for God did it. He sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives.” Gen 45:4-5 NLT
Each of us weave in and out of many other lives; touching them with our personality, our ideas, or our gifts and talents.
Do you touch yours with Jesus?
For years I didn’t. Dennis or Albert never saw Jesus in me.
Hopefully they do now!
