One Little Thorn

Back in mid-July Linda and I went caching and a thorn ended up in side of my index finger.
Well, of course I pulled it out but must have not got all of it because it bothered me for weeks.
I could see where the “sticker” had been and had made attempts to “dig” into the spot.
Then something deep under the skin began to really bother me.
On Saturday night I dug at it some more but throughout the day it became worse.
It was inflamed and very sore; so sore I had problems holding my guitar pick at church.
Finally on Sunday night after almost 2 months, I began to mess with it again and a hard, little cyst popped out.
Today it is doing so much better!
The soreness is gone, the redness is clearing up, and I have no problem using that index finger.
It’s hard to believe it all started with a little bitty thorn.
But big problems start little!
When allowed to grow and fester a thorn in the side can turn into a major operation to repair the damage done.
Paul said that the church is not immune to this kind of problem; it takes only one wrong person among you to infect all the others. Gal 5:9 NLT
The spiritual problems of our nation could have been prevented before they were allowed to fester up to the dimensions that they are now.
Though, as Christians, we cannot quarantine ourselves from the world, we must become immune to its sinful effects on us; Do not be deceived:”Evil company corrupts good habits.” 1 Cor 15:33
So surround yourself with God’s people, His Body, the church!
Learn from His word and pray.
Don’t let the world influence you but you influence the world!
