We Sin Because We Covet

For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world. 1 John 2:16
It was the downfall of man; the same problem that has been plaguing us since Eden.
When tempted with that which was forbidden, the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, Gen 3:6
Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life!
It didn’t stop with the woman; she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Gen 3:6
Every sin you or I commit will start the same way; lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
It all starts with covetousness; that gets the ball rolling for every sin imaginable.
We sin because we covet.
The lust of the eyes is coveting.
The lust of the flesh is coveting.
The pride of life is coveting.
A person that covets is always wanting!
When covetousness is fulfilled satisfaction is expected but only thing you get is more desire; never truly satisfied.
Each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin ; and sin , when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1:14-15
Lust and its sin is an ill-attempt to fill a void.
It never succeeds.
It is written awake to righteousness, and do not sin, for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. 1 Cor 15:34
Each of us as Christian’s must open our eyes to lust, temptation, and sin.
Don’t give in to sin!
But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 1 Tim 6:11
