U R DISTRACTED

The news stories increase every day about distracted driving.
I will admit that I have talked on the phone while driving and even done some texting, a very dangerous thing to do.
It’s more dangerous for East Texans than anyone else.
The reason is we can do it relatively safe in the rural areas due to very low traffic and the fact that most people drive like Farmer Brown.
But that same thinking and confidence will disappear when we drive into town or a metropolitan area.
Still, it shouldn’t be done at all.
Cell phones have added to highway fatalities since the popularity of them has boomed.
I have watched cars in front of me drift from the shoulder to the line and as I get up next to them I see the glow of the phone and realize the driver is texting.
This same techno-distraction is hitting other areas of life.
How many things interfere with church, Bible study, prayer, or visiting?
It interferes with school, with family, and even work.
While I am concerned about the latter things, my greatest concern is the effect on the spiritual.
It is written You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Isa 26:3
We don’t have perfect peace because our minds are not on God.
This is why we need to end the distractions and do as the Bible says; Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Col 3:2
Gird up the loins of your mind , be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:13-16
Holiness can only be achieved with no distractions!
