The news anchor gave a story of a man that performed a heroic act that saved the life of a child.
The anchor reported that the man credited a “higher power”!
When the video played the man said that he thanked God for helping him.
Now I’m not sure which god he was referring to but he never said a higher power.
I know Whom I would give the credit – the Lord Jesus Christ!
Regardless of what go he may have been talking about, it seems that the news media is paranoid or frightened to mention the very word!
And nowhere in scripture will you find God referred to as a “higher power”.
Jesus never prayed to the higher power.
The Bible says that Gabriel told Mary, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35
But there is a difference in power of the Highest and higher power!
Jesus said, “I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high .” Luke 24:49
Again there is a difference!
This is as close as it gets in the word of God to the use of higher power.
But close only counts in horseshoes and hand–grenades!
The Bible starts out with in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen 1:1) and ends with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (Rev 22:21)
Nowhere in between can I find “higher power”.
I say be definitive!
If you believe in Jesus as your Savior, then say so!
Don’t be a wishy-washy or milquetoast Christian.
