I watched the Chilean rescue effort this morning.
It has been good news to see and hear as miner after miner was pulled to the surface.
The 33 men have been trapped 2000 feet underground for 69 days.
Never has so many been trapped for that length of time and survived.
I recall many other mining accidents in which the news did not fare as well and there was a loss of life.
I would be willing to bet that there is not an atheist among those 33 men; that each one has prayed as hard as he could to be delivered from this hellish pit.
It is an experience I hope I never have to go though and I know you probably feel the same way; yet many will go through it and worse!
Jesus spoke about outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matt 8:12
Unlike the Chilean mine, hell is a place with no means of escape.
A rich man in hell was told, “Between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.” Luke 16:26
There will be no drilling!
There will be no rescue capsule!
There will be no chance of escape; no chance of redemption.
The only hope for anyone is Jesus.
The Bible says that eventually even the devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Rev 20:10
What a horrible sentence for anyone that sins and does not accept Jesus as Savior.
The real tragedy is it was all preventable.
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Rom 10:9-10
