Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? John 3:10
What a rebuke from the Master; subtle yet effective.
While Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a teacher of Israel, he had only seen the written words of God not written them on his heart.
The Law and Prophets gave him purpose and limited understanding.
He read the words but never saw beyond the letters.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe in reading and knowing God’s word but knowledge goes beyond the head, it must also be in the heart.
For this you must allow the Holy Spirit to teach you what the words mean.
It’s more than rules, regulations, and commandments, as Peter said to Jesus, “You have the words of eternal life.” John 6:68
I consider myself a teacher of the Word and yet I will admit there is much I do not know and it is only from lack of prayer, lack of discipline, and lack of study.
What I have experienced from God’s word is life, a more abundant life!
And I know that I want to “know these things!”
