This Is Why We Are Here!

Now it happened, as He went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they watched Him closely. And behold, there was a certain man before Him who had dropsy. And Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
But they kept silent. And He took him and healed him, and let him go. Then He answered them, saying, “Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?” And they could not answer Him regarding these things. Luke 14:1-6
Today’s thought comes on the heels of yesterday’s when Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?” John 3:10
There seemed to be quite a bit of that going around.
While it is a good thing to take the word of God literally, it shouldn’t come at the expense of binding the Spirit.
Here is an example of Jesus performing a wonderful healing of a man.
Because it was the Sabbath the religious leaders deemed keeping the Law above helping someone else.
They could not deny the miracle He did and they could not give Him a good reason not to do it.
When Jesus asked them what they would do for their own livestock, they could not answer Him regarding these things. Luke 14:6
Again this is an example of people thinking with their head and not feeling with their heart.
Far too many times I have seen church member enter God’s house after a long absence only to be berated by other church members with “Where have you been?” or “It’s about time you showed up again!”
One time one was even handed a visitor card!
We are here to heal not to hurt.
We are here to encourage not discourage.
We are here to bring in not to run off!
