Proclaim THIS!

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. Luke 4:19
A new year is here!
And I’m sure there are many crawfishing and backtracking on their prophesied non-events of 2010.
There were many in the Christian realm counting on 2010 being the year that Jesus returned.
It didn’t happen.
I am not one given to proclaiming a specific year for the Lord’s return; though most know that I prescribe a specific day, Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets.
You may also know that I do not predict any specific time.
Christianity would better serve a lost world by quitting the predictions of the return and just proclaim Jesus all year long.
I think study of His return is best left for disciples of Jesus and not those in sin.
It would do Christianity well to follow the rest of Jesus’ quotation;
The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me
to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. Luke 4:18-19
Though Jesus talked about His return, He didn’t dwell on it as much as the present church does.
He was more interested in people having a right relationship with the Father.
He was interested in reaching the poor and down trodden.
He lived to heal and set others free from sin.
It is not about a bigger church.
It is not about more programs!
It is not even about choosing a Republican or Democrat for president.
It is about people and sharing the Gospel with them.
This is what Jesus did!
If it’s good enough for Him, it should be us too!
