Better Than The Movies

Linda and I watched Letters To God last night.
It’s based on a true story about Tyler Doherty, who was diagnosed with brain cancer and wrote letters to God.
I don’t want to give away the plot, in case you haven’t seen it, but I’ll have to say it doesn’t end the way you think it should.
In other movies the patient will survive, mom will find true love again, and they’ll all become one big happy family.
The truth is that death is no respecter of person’s.
It takes the young, the old, and anyone in between.
I remember doing the funeral for a 100 year old man and I thought that even after 100 years the day still came too soon for his family.
There is no special protection for Christians when it comes to death.
Christian’s can die peacefully in sleep, by a heart attack, with cancer, shot in a hold up, or from old age.
Though death can remove us from this life, it cannot touch the redeemed of God in the next.
It is written blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power,… Rev 20:6
Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.” John 8:51
It seems for those that know Jesus as Savior, it will all end better than in the movies.
