Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s mother was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her. So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them. Luke 4:38-39
What a miracle; in fact, several miracles.
How would you feel if you were healed by Jesus?
Perhaps you have and it’s easier to answer the question.
I know that there were times I have been touched by God’s Spirit and I just wanted to bask in it; for it to last forever.
To be sick and have Jesus stand over you and rebuke the sickness is something that none of us have experienced even if we give God the glory and credit.
Simon’s mother-in-law experienced it and what did she do?
Did she just lie around?
Did she say, “Give me some more!”?
No, she got up and got right back into service.
I think that’s an important point.
Far too often we just lie around and ask for more as if it’s all about me, me, me!
But Jesus would have us get up and get back into service.
Simon’s mother-in-law served our Lord and the others.
She didn’t complain about being sick to begin with.
She didn’t say that she needed to rest a few more days.
She went right back doing the Father’s business.
That’s the real miracle of this story and one that we should all learn.
Allow God to do a work in you and then spread that work to others.
