I remember watching him when I was a kid.
Of course I was very bored with it because I wanted to watch cartoons, though I was impressed with his biceps.
Jack LaLanne died on Sunday at the age of 96.
He was the original fitness and exercise guru performing some amazing feats of strength.
At age 43, he performed more than 1000 pushups in 23 minutes on live television.
I probably can’t do 2!
He is known for swimming from Alcatraz Island to Fisherman’s Wharf, handcuffed, shackled and towing a 1,000-pound boat. He was 60.
The news was a-buzz with the news of his death and I got to listen to him say in an interview, “Billy Graham was for the hereafter. I’m for the here and now.”
No disrespect for Jack, but it would seem that Billy is right.
You can live 96 or 196 years and you will still have to face the hereafter.
I am reminded of Hebrews 9:27, it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.
I have nothing against exercise but each of us would be better served by concentrating on the eternal.
Paul said, “Bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.” 1 Tim 4:8
Perhaps each of us should exercise more on self-control.
Maybe exercise patience or kindness.
I believe in exercising, I really do, on the eternal things that make a difference in you and others!
Amen….where are the rest of our opinionated friends. This is a realy good topic for diverse opinions
