Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” John 21:17
It’s something that goes on around our house all the time.
“Linda, do you love me?”
“Tim, do you love me?”
I don’t think I ever get tired of telling my wife that I love her.
I know I never get tired of hearing that she loves me!
So what was Peter’s problem?
Oh, yea, he was probably still feeling guilty from crowing out a denial about knowing Jesus but I read no condemnation in Jesus’ words.
I see a Savior getting Peter to realize that he does love Him.
I know Linda loves me, not because she tells me but because she shows me.
Though Peter became agitated at telling the Lord that he loved Him, his actions later proved that he did indeed love the Lord and was willing to give his life for Him.
So what is your response when Jesus asks you, “Do you love me?”
Why isn’t God’s kind of love seen more often? espicaly in married couples. How come so many brothers don’t love their wives like Christ loves the church? How come…???
