Signature Prayer

I was handed a page of prayer requests yesterday morning during our staff devotion. As I read the request I began to think, “This sounds a lot like Mary” a lady that used to come to our church.
Mary is not her real name but she is a real person.
It was the way the prayer request was worded and the things she asked for that reminded me so much of her.
At the bottom of the prayer request/letter was her signature; it was her!
Each of us has a signature way to write, talk, get dressed, eat, drink, and pray.
I once knew a man that I could almost give a word-by-word description of how he would pray when asked.
I often wonder if, when I pray, God says, “There’s Tim! I’d recognize that prayer anywhere!”
Of course, He does recognize me and all that know Him as Savior.
But God does not hear the prayer of sinners; those that never worship Him, never confess His salvation, and never live for Him.
It is written, now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him. John 9:31
The first time God actually heard my prayer was when I asked His forgiveness and asked for Jesus to be my Lord and Savior.
He’s been hearing from me quite regularly ever since.
After 36 years, He does recognize my voice and style!

  1. Art imitates life. In a movie several bullied teens turn against their classmates. They did pray and ask God to direct them otherwise they’d continue with their plans. During the horror they said it was Gods will cause He did not tell them otherwise. And people will say, “the truth will set you free”. Where is the context? Some are content to know of God without the relationship. To live for God is to ever grow, to expand, to gain understanding of Him. THEN not only does He hear, but He understands!
