The question arose last night at church about the end times. It’s on every Christian’s mind as The Day draws nearer.
I asked if things could get worst. Everyone said yes.
I asked if the human race could survive another 5, 10, 30, or 50 years.
The answer was yes again, should the Lord tarry.
We have survived many other disasters, though I think eventually we would annihilate ourselves.
Jesus said, “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved.” Matt 24:21-22
He also compared the end times and His return to another time in history; as it was in the days of Noah , so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: Luke 17:26
Looking beyond eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage (Matt 24:38), what else was going on?
Someone was giving the message about the end coming.
Preparations were being made for the end.
Many made fun of and doubted the end-is-coming message.
Life continued as normal for many up to the day the end actually came.
Even with all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened (Gen 7:11), no doubt some still did not believe it was the end.
It is written knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 2 Peter 3:3-6
Scoffers often forget or ignore the Great Flood of Noah’s day.
The end is not a time to cower and fear but a time to embrace and get closer to the Savior.
He is the Ark that will lift you safely up from the disaster to come.
