On Monday evenings I have been assisting the Boy Scouts in getting a new merit badge on Geocaching.
I have shown them the basics of caching, along with different containers, methods of hiding, how to use a gps, and what is required to get the merit badge.
Last Sunday afternoon Linda and I went to the area where the troop camps and set out 12 caches for them to find on their campout later this month.
Now geocaching is just for fun and Linda and I enjoy it, as you may have guessed.
But there is another “merit badge” that I would like for everyone to get.
Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Tim 4:8
A crown of righteousness is just one reward that a believer will receive.
The Bible also says blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. 1 Peter 5:4
What a badge of honor to be given these crowns from our Lord and Savior.
And what shall we do with them?
It is written that the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, (Rev 4:10) perhaps each of us will too!
Accept Jesus as Savior and make sure the only crowns you don’t cast at His feet are the ones from your teeth!
I love that life contains hidden treasures from Father God. Thing is without the help of the Holy Spirit we wont reconize them, and we can’t have the Holy Spirit without asking the Son of God into our hearts. This world is so troubled, so ugly, BUT with the indwelling Spirit of God we can see and enjoy God’s beauty on earth.
