As the thunderstorm approached from the southeast, I stepped outside to observe the conditions.
Lightning began to streak to the ground.
I saw this as a photo-op, so I got my camera and tripod and set up to shoot.
Lightning is predictably unpredictable!
You definitely know it’s going to happen but definitely not where or when!
So I put on the wide-angle lens and would take multiple exposures trying to capture that moment.
Even when I saw the lightning flash I was just way too slow to push down the shutter and catch it.
My persistence paid off and out of 183 photos there were 5 that actually had a bolt of lightning.
This will bring me to the return of Jesus.
As you may know, I believe Jesus will return to fulfill the Jewish Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teru’ah discussed in this Morning Thought)
That’s not much help to predicting when though; but Jesus actually gives some insight.
Here is what He said; For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Matt 24:27
Jesus compares His coming to lightning.
Think about it for a moment.
You know that lightning is a great possibility with a storm.
And though you know it’s coming, you can’t predict when or where it will strike.
Even though you may not see the lightning, you may hear thunder, which is an effect of lightning.
Jesus return will be like that; you’ll know it’s going to happen because you see “the storm” but you can’t predict the exact moment. So, as with lightning, watch and pray!
