My Next Marriage

John and Derotha Wise, Christmas 1969

My great-grandparents, John and Derotha Wise, were married for a long time. Papa could tell you to the minute how long.
When she passed away in the mid-70’s they had been married for 67 years, 7 months, and 21 days.
I’ve heard of some couples making it to 75 even 80 years of marriage.
I don’t know how many years Linda and I will get to go; and it heaven, evidently we won’t be married; For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage , but are like angels of God in heaven. Matt 22:30
However, even though we aren’t married to each other, we will be married to the same person.
Paul reveals this to us in Eph 5:25-27; Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
We are both to be presented to Christ, as are all that are in the church.
Isaiah also gave some a small glimpse into this truth by saying, “For your Maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is His name!” Isa 54:5
And then there is the well known scripture from Rev 19:6-9, and I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!'”
So I am already preparing for my next wedding.
What a great time that will be!
