I like to take advantage of a situation.
For instance, if I find out someone doesn’t have a church home or is looking for one, I invite them to CrossRoads.
Jonah was sitting on an opportunity to disciple an entire city.
Here is a population that has just repented but has no place to worship God.
There is no Sunday school, no evening service, nothing.
Jonah has the opportunity to mold and shape minds and hearts in the image of God.
He can teach them God’s word and share what it is to be a Christian.
The field is white to harvest, has been picked and is ready to be eaten.
But what does Jonah do?
He sits down!
So Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city. There he made himself a shelter and sat under it in the shade, till he might see what would become of the city. Jonah 4:5
I admit that Jonah is the perfect Christian; he sits!
Sits just like a lot of other Christians do every Sunday.
They don’t praise; they sit.
They don’t pray; they sit.
They don’t greet strangers; they sit.
They don’t come to the altar and repent; they sit.
When a Sunday school teacher is needed; they sit.
When someone is needed to help the youth; they sit.
When it’s time to visit; they sit.
When it’s time to evangelize; they sit.
They sit so that they may see what will happen.
They sit in the same place every service, a place designed just for them.
And if someone else sits where they sit, then they get into action to get them out of the place where they want to sit.
It is written that the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly (Rom. 16:20) not under your rear-end, but under your feet.
So quit sitting and get on your feet.
You can’t walk by faith (2 Cor. 5:7) if you’re sitting.
i was told just yesterday to move my feet on a certain situation!! i moved my mouth and my feet at the same time.. i hope that is legal..lol thanks tim for your words of wisdom and confirmation… Jenn
